5S - The Visual Workplace

Description

5S is a system for organizing spaces so work can be performed efficiently, effectively, and safely. This system focuses on putting everything where it belongs and keeping the workplace clean, which makes it easier for people to do their jobs without wasting time or risking injury. This program will use  teach Techniques and methods to accomplish this goal.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate differences in workplace appearance and functionality before and after the 5S process has been applied.
• Perform an in-depth audit of workplace organization and standardization through use of a Workplace Scan.
• Organize a workplace by applying the concepts of Sort, Set in Order, and Shine.
• Standardize procedures to maintain and control an organized workplace using visual controls.
• Explain methods to apply the fifth concept, Sustain.
• Describe how 5S can help to improve workplace environmental health and safety

Format:

Lecture/discussion defines terms, definitions and techniques, Check sheet tool will be provided , additionally a Workplace Scan with the group will allow attendees to practice the curriculum. 

 5S is one of the fundamental LEAN Building Blocks for a strong foundation to begin your LEAN Journey.
