Nebraska Manufacturing Extension Partnership

2017

The services provided through Nebraska MEP and their contacts definitely added value to our business. They helped us when we did not know where to turn for these services, which resulted in a savings of time and resources that we did not have to incur. I would definitely recommend that other manufacturers get to know Nebraska MEP and learn about how they can assist manufacturing in Nebraska.

European Expansion of Business

Eidos Corporation of Lincoln, Nebraska is a manufacturer of ergonomic chairs with design features to help employees be more productive by easing the stress put on their bodies, thereby increasing the quality of their work experience. Eidos has six employees located in their Lincoln facility. They generate $1.3 million in annual revenues at their location. They manufacture high quality creepers, shop stools and bench stools that are designed for 24/7 use in high impact manufacturing or service environments.

Situation

As the market for Eidos’ ergonomic chairs and products in Europe increased, a couple of obstacles presented themselves to the company. The first issue involved the sale of their product to a customer in Italy. In order to complete this sale, Eidos needed to have their manuals translated to Italian.

Additionally, as they began to look at some large manufacturers based in Europe, they were requested to provide a European CE Product Certification in order to be considered as a vendor in the European market.

Solution

Eidos contacted Nebraska MEP to see if they would be able to help in regards to the situations listed above. Nebraska MEP was able to help with both of these situations.

First, Nebraska MEP found a qualified Italian translator who was able to translate the manuals to Italian in a quick time period to allow Eidos to complete the sale with their Italian customers. Second, Nebraska MEP located a third party to provide the required European Certification letter addressing the need for their products to have the CE Mark in Europe. This allowed additional sales opportunities in the European market.

Results

Utilizing the resources brought to Eidos by Nebraska MEP the following impacts were achieved in 2017.

  • An increase in revenues of $7,500
  • A cost savings of $500
  • A retention of 1 job
